The WaterFile Glossary: Decoding the Alphabet Soup
Decoding the Alphabet Soup 🍲
Compliance shouldn't feel like learning a second language. In the world of Texas water, we deal with a lot of acronyms. We built this page to translate those technical terms into plain English so we can all stay focused on what matters: clean water and clear records.
The Essentials
| Term | The Simple Translation | The "So What?" |
| PWSID | Your System’s Fingerprint | This is your Public Water System ID. It’s how the TCEQ and EPA track your specific facility. |
| STEERS | The State’s Inbox | The State of Texas Environmental Electronic Reporting System. If we don't upload reports here, they don't exist in the eyes of the state. |
| CCR | Your Annual Report Card | The Consumer Confidence Report. Due every July 1st. It’s our way of telling the community their water is safe. |
| LCRI | The 2026 Lead Update | Lead and Copper Rule Improvements. New mandates require us to have a clear inventory of all service lines. |
| CCI | The Big Inspection | Comprehensive Compliance Investigation. This is the thorough on-site audit that happens every three years. |
| DWW | Your Public Profile | Drinking Water Watch. This is the public database where anyone can see our system’s testing history and violations. |
| MOR | The Monthly Pulse | Monthly Operating Report. The routine paperwork that proves we are maintaining our system day-to-day. |
Why This Matters to Us
We don't just list these terms to be technical. We list them because missing even one can result in a "Notice of Violation" (NOV). Our goal at WaterFile is to automate the tracking of these terms so we can provide a Compliance Shield that protects our time and our system’s reputation.
